Well, moving is always a chore, and is also bittersweet.
We lived in the same house for 13 years, and none of us ever loved the house...we did love the neighborhood, and the proximity to schools and park and church. But the house itself had awkward rooms, and was in need of remodeling. We had planned to do that, but Bruce's various shoulder and heart surgeries got in the way. He could no longer do the work, and we paid for medical expenses instead of hiring a contractor. So the remodeling never happened.
Now we are in a condo that is in beautiful shape, and doesn't need remodeling, so that is sweet.
And our buyers (leasors now; the sale is still underway) are up to their ears in remodeling our old house before they move into it. And even though I am so happy for the house that it is finally getting the facelift it needed, seeing it also kind of makes me feel like crying. Is that kind of silly?
So...here is what is going on in our old house these days:
So, yes, that kind of makes me sad. In a happy way.
And now, on to the pictures of where we are now, which make me happy, and not in a sad way. Because I actually love the new house. It is bright and airy with high ceillings, which I love. We had high ceilings in High River, and I remember that the old Orem house made me feel a bit clautrophobic until I got used to it. So nice to have that airy feeling back again.

First, even before we moved out, the fireplace started to come down. Outside, the chimney was removed and the roof fixed.

Looking down in to the basement with both levels of fireplace gone. The wall into Patrick's room had to go since it was against the fireplace cement.

The fireplace hole...without it, there will be a lot more space in the house.

Raydn removing the tile from the front entry. The entire floor will be wood, I think.

Ryan and Raydn working on the floor together.

Radyn, Ryan and Randy filling in the gap in the wall of what was formerly Patrick's room.

Randy tearing down the wall between the family room and Bruce's office.

Looking from the family room into the space that was Bruce's office and also Patrick's room.

Looking out into the big open space of room that is there with the fireplace gone and the floor filled in.

The view from the laundry room...looks like they took out the shower in the back bathroom, too.

The dumpster with the fireplace debris. I am sure the dumpster is much more full now!

Master bedroom. At least 1.5 times larger than the one in the old house. So happy to have a big master bedroom again!

Master bath. Pet peeve: it opens directly into the bedroom--no door. We are thinking about door options.

Dining area. There is a balcony through those windows you can see.

Down the stairs to the first floor. Which isn't really a basement.
