You've got mail...wait...I've got mail, including yours

This summer, besides a work trip to Ohio, which I LOVED because I got to spend time with my cousin Marie, and a fun trip to Alberta with Josie to visit Abra (also my cousin Helen and sister Colleen), which I also LOVED...besides those two little trips, I have just been at home, going to work each day. That meant that I was available to pick up the mail for my neighbors.

The W's, who live across the street, were gone for a month. So every day I would cross the street to pick up their mail, except for sometimes on weekends when Bruce was home and he would go get it. When the W's had been gone about three weeks, Mrs. N. from next door came and asked if I would mind to pick up their mail--they were going to be gone for about five days. So, every day I would pick up mail at three houses.

On Thursday, I was home early because of graduation, so I got the mail earlier than usual. I didn't realize that the O children, who live next door to the W's, were outside on their front porch. Actually, I didn't even think about it.

I opened our mail box; took that mail; stepped a couple of steps to the N's mailbox; took that mail; crossed the street to the W's mailbox, which is just beside the O's mailbox; took that mail. That's when I heard a very agitated "MO-OM!" and the door to the O's house opening quickly. Oops. I think the O daughters thought I was stealing mail and were worried about theirs! A couple of minutes later, as I was crossing the street, one of the O children quickly opened the O mailbox, and I could just hear her little sigh of relief that the crazy lady across the street didn't take their mail, too!

Then on Saturday, the caregiver of Elderly Mrs. P, who lives across the street the other direction from the O's, called me. She was going to a family reunion and wouldn't be able to do an evening visit. Would I please go to Mrs. P's house at about 6:30 and make sure she took her medicine when the timer rang? And would I please check her mail, because she sometimes forgets to check it, and they were expecting some medication to be delivered in the mail soon, maybe even today! I said I would be happy to do it.

As I walked to Mrs. P's house at 6:15 that evening, of course the O children were out playing in their yard...with some trepidation, knowing I was being watched with a great deal of interest by the O's, I opened yet another neighbor's mailbox! I can just imagine it, "MO-OM, she's doing it again..."
