One thing I like about my granddaughter Zoë is her appreciation for the written word. When she had her third birthday, instead of casting birthday cards aside to hurry and get at the contents of presents, she required each card to be read to her completely before gently setting it aside to open the gift. Now that she is five, and can both read and write, she appreciates cards even more! Words to read! Words to write!! What a fabulous gift! We mailed her a card, and here she is replicating all the words on a piece of paper. Happy Birthday yesterday, Zoë!
