Sept. 7 -- Kelli's first day in Sunbeams was today! Her teacher was Sister Layton -- me! All the children played games together trying to learn each others' names. I would put my hand on a child's head and say "Who's this?" and everyone would call out an answer. One time, I put my hand on my own head. Everybody was silent to my question, so I said again "Who's this?" Quiet continued--then Kelli stood up and shouted "Mommy!"
In the evening, Grandpa and Grandma L. called, and Kelli got to wish Grandpa a happy birthday, because his birthday is September 8, and so is Grandpa Conrad's!
Sept.8 -- After our home evening lesson, Kelli got to tell Grandpa C. "Happy Birthday to you" on the phone, too. And in the morning, Kelli and Abbi had gone to play at Rhonda Clark's house. They had lots of fun!
[I loved El Cajon First Ward in California! We had the neatest building. The Primary room opened onto an enclosed patio--completely enclosed on all four sides, and classrooms opened onto the patio as well. It was such an awesome set-up to run a primary. The people were really nice, too. Some of these children's mothers were some of my best friends in California.]
Sept. 15 -- Today, Kelli went to our new doctor, Dr. Oderkirk. She has been quite sick, and last night I sat up with her until midnight because she kept vomiting and had diarrhea, too. Dr. O. said that Kelli has impetigo, and gave her some medicine to take. Kelli must have been feeling sick today, because at nap time, she laid right down and went to slepp! That made her feel better, and she was in a very happy, funny mood when she woke up. At supper, she wasn't eating very well, so I asked if she was full. She said, "No, I'm just resting my mouth!"
Sept. 26 -- Grandpa and Grandma C and Uncle Bruce arrived today. Kelli surprised me, because she remembered not only the people, but Grandma's car as well! Kelli was playing outside on the veranda [which was upstairs in the apartment complex, while our apartment was on the ground level] when they arrived [she saw the car drive into the parking lot, before they parked or opened the doors], and she came running downstairs yelling, "Mommy, mommy! My grandma's here! My grandma's here!"--and she was!
